•  What is the message of Hosea?

Conviction: So What?

•  Where does this fit?

- Hosea is a dramatic lesson about God’s love and faithfulness in light of our unfaithfulness of His                  people.

- Hosea preached to the Northern Kingdom, but his message resonates with the southern kingdom    and for us today.

- Hosea highlights a lack of knowledge, love, and faithfulness among the people of God.

•  What should we believe?

- The Lord will discipline His people but never give up on them.

- The Lord will fulfill His covenant promises both to bless and to discipline.

- Our participation in covenant blessings requires obedience.

•  How should we behave?

- Convicted over our sin and unfaithfulness to a God who loves us deeply.

- Convinced that God’s love is never ending.

- Carefully listen for the tender voice of God (Hosea 2:14).

Next Steps
•  Examine your life for places where you are subtlety drifting in your belief, obedience, and worship.

•  Listen for the whisper of God speaking of his faithfulness and love.

Home Church
Our Home Churches meet weekly to facilitate quicker relational depth, study the same passage taught
Sunday to help apply Scripture in the context of community, and pray with one another.

Home Church Questions
•   Read Hosea 1:1-11 and 3:1-5.

•   Was there anything new or insightful in this message?

•   Was there anything you know you can or should immediately apply?

•   What did you struggle with in this message?  What did not make sense or caused you to evaluate your own life more deeply?

•    How would your life personally or the life of your family be different if you fully lived out the truths in this message?

•   OK! The “elephant in the room.”  How do you feel about the Lord asking Hosea to marry a woman who was already a prostitute or would become one?

•   The image of an “unfaithful wife” is strong and pointed.  In what ways is it appropriate as you look at your relationship with the Lord.

•   An excellent translation of Hosea 2:14 reads, “Therefore I am now going to allure her; I will lead her into the wilderness and speak tenderly to her.”  Have you ever experienced this? (Wilderness, Allured by the Lord, Tender Words?)

•   How would you express the balance between our unfaithfulness, God’s righteous discipline, and His passion to heal and restore?  Knowing His character, how does this affect your ability to trust Him on a daily basis?

•   What has been a benefit of our study through the books of the Bible so far?
