Reading the Scripture Story - Moo

Going to Extremes - Swindoll

Literary Context (Romans 9-11) - Theilman

Introduction: The Flow

The Charges
•  God's Word has failed (9:6).
•  God is unjust (9:14).
•  God is wrong to hold us accountable in light of His sovereignty (9:19).
•  God has rejected His people (11:1).
•  God's plan has been thwarted (11:11).
•  Summary: God cannot be trusted. He is unfaithful.

The Evidence
•  God's Past Relationship with Israel - God chose Israel (9:1-33).
•  God's Present Relationship with Israel - Israel rejected God (10:1-21).
•  God's Future Relationship with Israel - Israel's rejection is not final (11:1-36).

The Verdict

Oh, the depth of the riches of both
the wisdom and knowledge of God!
How unsearchable are His judgments and unfathomable His ways!
Romans 11:33 (NASB)

Next Steps
•
Make a conscious choice to rest in the wisdom and faithfulness of God.
•  Be honest about your questions about God.  On the same note, be faithful with Scripture and let it speak for itself.  Hard questions are fine.  Work hard to find reliable answers.
•  Read your Bible well.
