God’s Spirit in God’s Children - Stott

Theology in Application: The Change - Theilman

Introduction: The Final Solution to the Struggle

Eternal Benefits: No Condemnation
Christians are free from any kind of condemnation and
can expect victory in Christ and through the Spirit.
(Romans 8:1-4)

•  The powerless work of the Law leaves us dead (8:3a).

•  The powerful work of Christ brings freedom and life (8:1-4).

Present Benefits: Life in the Spirit
Christians can experience life and peace in the Spirit.
(Romans 8:5-8)

  • Living controlled by the sinful nature leads to death and hostility.

•  Living controlled by the Spirit leads to life and peace.

•  The importance of mindset/worldview is determinative.

Future Benefits: Assurance of Resurrection Victory
Christians will experience final deliverance from sin in the resurrection.
(Romans 8:9-11)

•  The Spirit identifies Christians (8:9).

•  Christ, through the Spirit, empowers us to live righteously  (8:10).

•  The Spirit guarantees our resurrection (8:11).

Life in the Spirit
is a life of vitality and harmony.

Next Steps
•  Commit yourself to regularly reflect on your full pardon received on the basis of Christ's work on the cross.
•  Develop a worldview controlled by the Holy Spirit's application of God's Word to your life in the midst of biblical community resulting in Christlikeness.

Home Church
Our Home Churches meet weekly to facilitate quicker relational depth, study the same passage taught
Sunday to help apply Scripture in the context of community, and pray with one another.  Home Church helps our body seek God’s best for one another.

Home Church Questions

•  Read Romans 8:1-11.

•  What was the main point of the message this week?

•  How does it  feel to know that now and forever there is no condemnation to those who are in Christ     Jesus?
•  What is the difference between "condemnation" and "consequences"?

•  How are the righteous requirements of the law met in us?

•  How do we "set our minds on what the Spirit desires"?

•  When we "live by the Spirit" the result is "life and peace."  When have you experienced living by the     spirit?  What is it like?

•  When have you experienced life and peace?  What is it like?

•  How does the hope of resurrection motivate you?

Home Church Launching in 2021
Start the New Year in a Home Church where you will build deep relationships with other believers as you study God’s Word, pray together, and serve alongside one another. We believe that God intended for people to live in community.  Questions?  Contact Michael Harrison mharrison@fellowshipconway.org

Girlfriend’s Bible Study - One study, Two Options
Start the new year off with God’s Word and in community with other women. The Girlfriend’s ministry is providing two opportunities to grow in scripture and in fellowship.  Author, Heather Harrison, has published a new study on Colossians (The Surprisingly Generous and Radically Sufficient Jesus Christ) that will drive women further in their walk with the Lord. We will offer the study via Zoom Thursday evenings starting January 21 from 7:00-8:00 PM. Also, an in person option begins January 27 at noon, here at Fellowship (masks required). You can sign up for either option by going to fellowshipconway.org/register. Books are available online through Amazon. Child care by RSVP to Shann@conwaycorp.net

Fellowship KiIds Baptism Class February 7, 14, 21, 28  | 10:45 a.m. | Room 2101
If your child has placed their faith in Christ or you have been having discussions about salvation and baptism, we would love for you to join us for this four week class. This is a class for you and your child to attend together as we discuss the character of God, salvation, baptism, and spiritual disciplines. If you are interested in attending, email Heather McKinney at hmckinney@fellowshipconway.org.

Soup-er Bowl food Drive
On a day when we watch the big game and celebrate with more food than most football teams could consume, let’s join together to help bless others through our Soup-er Bowl Sunday!  Food items such as hearty soups, canned chili, spaghetti, spaghetti sauce, tuna helper, canned meats (tuna, chicken), and Knorr brand pasta are needed to help restock the food pantry of Bethlehem House, one of our local ministry partners. Simply bring one or more of these items and drop it off at church on Sunday, Feb 7th or if you are worshipping with us online, you can bring them to the Ministry Office on Thursday (8-4:30 p.m.) or Friday (8:30-2:00 p.m.) the previous week.
