    Correction: Encouragement about Eschatology (2:1-17)

    - Don't Worry: The Day of the Lord has not already come (2:1-12).

•  What is the message of 2 Thessalonians?

Conviction: So What?

•  Where does 2 Thessalonians fit?

    - Written just a short time after 1 Thessalonians in order to clear up some misunderstandings in light of ongoing and increased persecution and confusion about the return of Jesus.

    - Paul addresses a “forged letter” attributed to him that had been circulated claiming that the day of the Lord had already come.

    -  Some were confused and some had stopped working in light of the “soon” return of Christ.

•  What should we believe?

    - Eschatology matters.

    - The return of Christ is imminent (and perhaps soon).

    - Things will get worse before they get better.

    - Things will get better when Christ returns because Christ returns.

•  How should we behave?

    - Working hard.

    - Waiting expectantly.

    - Engaging in kingdom work.

Next Steps
•
Wait with confident expectancy.

•  Serve with purposeful focus.

•  Work with intentional consistency.
