Home Church Questions

•   Read Genesis 12:1-10.

•   Was there anything new or insightful in this message?

•   Was there anything you know you can or should immediately apply?

•   What did you struggle with in this message?  What did not make sense or caused you to evaluate your own life more deeply?

•   The Old Testament is, in one sense, all preparation for the coming of Jesus who is the simple but total solution to our need.  In that sense the Old Testament story raises our need clearly.  Review the way the Old Testament narrative raises our need for Jesus and make it personal by incorporating your personal need for all that Jesus provides.

•   God is obviously at work all the time, accomplishing His purpose in history and in our lives.  This was clear in the time between the Testaments, often referred to as 400 years of silence. Is that an accurate description of the time?  What lessons can we learn from God’s seeming silence and how does that give us perspective for our current stage in life?

•   Jesus came to redeem us, left us with the indwelling Holy Spirit, and commissioned us to take the message of good news in Christ to the world until He returns.  He is coming back to set all things right.  Why would He involve us in taking the message to the world, person to person? How focused are you in living that out as a visible testimony and how confident are you in presenting the Gospel in a one-to-one situation if it were to arise?

•   What specifics would need to change in your life for someone to ask you to share why you are different, opening the door to share the difference that Christ makes?
